Dr. Danny Chao, MD, CCFP

Dr. Chao was born and raised in Edmonton, Alberta, and currently calls Vancouver, BC his home. Prior to completing his undergraduate degree in the General Biological Sciences Program at the University of Alberta, he was offered early admission to medical school at the University of Calgary. Graduating as the third youngest medical student in his class, he received two years of residency training in Diagnostic Radiology before choosing to pursue Family Medicine training.

Due to his natural talent of working with his hands and his fond eye for detail, he developed a keen interest in skin and hair health and medical aesthetics. Dr. Chao trained with numerous well-known dermatologists and surgeons to advance his knowledge and techniques in treating various skin conditions. He became a Certificant of the College of Family Physicians of Canada in 2018. He provided a combination of primary care and consultative care for patients with various skin concerns. Having completed an intensive Evidence-Based Hair Fellowship with Dr. Jeff Donovan, an internationally renowned Canadian dermatologist specializing in hair loss, Dr. Chao is passionate in the diagnosis and management of all hair loss conditions. Dr. Chao continues to finesse his knowledge and skills in skin and hair health to ensure his patients receive the most up-to-date and safe treatments.



Dr. Chao is an avid foodie and enjoys exploring new restaurants in the city. He also enjoys being outdoors and hiking, admiring the natural beauty of the west coast as well as during his travels around the world. He also likes staying active – CrossFit, running, and sailing are some of the activities that he has participated in in the past, and he is currently enjoying working out and playing tennis.

Having trained in the specialty of Family Medicine, Dr. Chao is experienced in providing expert care using a patient-centred, collaborative approach. He works with his patients closely to ensure they understand the different treatments that are offered so an acceptable, realistic treatment plan is crafted to reach their goals. Dr. Chao has worked with numerous individuals to provide both primary care skin conditions and aesthetic care.
